Please review the syllabus concerning the two parts of your presentation assessments. First, it's likely easy for you (individually and collectively) to include artifacts and various forms of relevant evidence when explaining how you identified/planned your AR project. Second, consider presenting your plan via four steps:
1. Needs Assessment: I'm going to ask that you express needs by saying something like, "We reviewed Marzano and realized that one of his three teacher factors....has been contributing towards a lack of task (or other) coherence in our school". "This manifests itself through.... We believe that we can improve this situation by...."
Roesser's Hierarchy of Needs
Physical: renovation
Safety: security safety committees
Curricular: new initiative
Instructional: lack of cohesion and collaboration
Teacher Expectations: work on C&I
Self-Awareness & Governance: work on C&I
We used the "Self-Assessment: School Culture Triage" and realized that modifications and improvement are necessary. We will begin with a more intense assessment of our school's culture to determine which area is most in need of improvement. We believe we can improve this situation through utilization of the tuning protocol to look at student work during department meetings.
2. State SMART goals....include periodic collection of data that will offer evidence that the plan is working.
S: Strategic and Specific
M: Measurable
A: Attainable
R: Results-Based
T: Time-bound
The teachers in the mathematics and science departments at William Allen High School will demonstrate an improvement of 20 points in the school culture triage score during the 2009-2010 school year.
3. Explain steps, strategies and actions (who will do what, when and how?). Explain how your team hopes to enlist others and support their efforts. Also specify when/where your team will meet to discuss progress. This should be at least monthly.
*Survey all teachers at initial department meeting - MSMT members.
*Use success analysis protocol at initial department meeting - MSMT members.
*Use tuning protocol to look at student work during initial department meetings -MSMT members, KLT teachers.
*Readminister survey in Dec/Jan.
4. Explain how your team will document results/outcomes. This might include meetings with your principal but only if you believe it's culturally prudent.
*Pre/Post Survey results
*Increased participation/volunteerism in meetings.
*Anecdotal evidence based on principal observations.
